You’re at a crowded party, taking in a lot; plus you’re in the middle of a divorce; plus you just got a message from a friend saying she overheard that you may get laid off
You’re processing a lot moment to moment
Processing refers to registering information and all its intensity–information from the environment and from your internal experience–and handling all this information in a way that, hopefully, serves your well-being
Processing includes a lot of automatic things happening in your organism, including subconsciously, and a lot of choice. Your divorce and news of the potential lay off tug at your attention; pay attention to them or try to pay more attention to the party? Say you try to pay attention to the party; a few moments later, you have a sudden insight about your divorce. Processing was going on, automatically, subconsciously, and led to that insight
Your whole organism, or biology, processes; your whole organism is the processor, that which processes
Your organism includes both your matter and consciousness; your organism is an integration of your matter and consciousness
You can use Organic Intelligence to enhance your processor; equivalently, to grow your processing capacity; equivalently, to grow your capacity; what and how much you’re able to process, including process easily
Growing capacity enhances your reason, your basic tool of survival, according to Ayn Rand
You feel emotional and impulsive; you want to call your boss right this moment to ask if you’re getting laid off
If you have capacity to have your feelings easily, you have more power to reason, for example, about whether to call him right now
